Eva Amurri Discusses Childhood Diet and Wedding Details

Actress and lifestyle blogger Eva Amurri recently reflected on her upbringing, particularly her mother’s strict dietary habits, in an interview with People magazine’s 2024 Holiday digital issue. Amurri, 39, who shares three children with her ex-husband Kyle Martin, contrasted her parenting style to that of her famous mother, actress Susan Sarandon.

Amurri humorously described Sarandon as a «tried and true ‘almond mom,'» who would go to great lengths to acquire organic groceries in New York City during the early 1980s. «My mom thought Cheerios was junk food,» Amurri remarked, illustrating her mother’s commitment to a health-conscious lifestyle.

Discussing her own approach, Amurri noted, «My 4-year-old will eat half of an ice cream and he’ll be like, ‘I think I’m done,’…because I’m just so nonchalant about it.» This highlights a more relaxed attitude towards food compared to her upbringing.

In addition to reminiscing about her childhood, Amurri also touched on her recent marriage to chef Ian Hock, which took place in June in New York’s Hudson Valley. The wedding was designed to be a family-centered event, placing significant emphasis on the involvement of her children. «We really wanted to center our little family unit in all of it,» she told People, emphasizing the personal and intimate nature of the ceremony.

During the wedding, Amurri’s children played special roles, with her son Major walking her down the aisle. «We also didn’t have any bridal party besides the kids, and it was perfect,» Amurri reflected, underscoring the family-oriented theme of the celebration.

Amurri’s addresses come amid renewed public interest in her family, as Sarandon continues to encourage healthy eating among her grandchildren, despite Amurri’s opposition to what she refers to as «disgusting cereal» sent by her mother for the children. Sarandon, who has always been candid about her parenting experiences and family life, including in previous interviews, is noted for her health-conscious views.
