Excitement Builds for the 75th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen
The 75th edition of the NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen, one of Japan’s most celebrated music events, has unveiled its complete lineup, promising a night of stellar performances. Scheduled to air on December 31 from 7:20 PM to 11:45 PM JST, the annual New Year’s Eve show features a captivating blend of veteran artists and up-and-coming talents.
This year’s lineup includes well-known artists such as Vaundy, MISIA, BE:FIRST, and Sakurazaka46, alongside eight debut acts making their mark on the prestigious stage. NHK, the public broadcaster hosting the event, emphasized the variety and diversity of the performers, reflecting the dynamic landscape of Japanese music.
Among the debut performers is 15-year-old singer-songwriter tuki., who has gained significant attention with her breakout hit «Bansanka.» Known for her soulful melodies and introspective lyrics, tuki.’s rise to fame was fueled by social media platforms where her emotionally resonant guitar performances captivated audiences.
Another notable new entry is Number_i, a vibrant J-pop boy group recognized for their high-energy dance tracks and skillful rap sequences. Their anticipated appearance is expected to deliver an electrifying performance that highlights their dynamic style and has already garnered a strong fanbase within the modern J-pop scene.
NHK officially announced the lineup during a presentation at their broadcast center in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo. The event will feature a total of 41 solo artists and groups, showcasing both domestic and international acts, including the South Korean group Illit. This marks a significant moment for acts that have only recently emerged onto the music scene, broadening the show’s appeal to a wider audience.
