An India Today-Axis My India exit poll has foreseen a significant turning point in the West Bengal political landscape as it envisions a substantial setback for the Trinamool Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The exit poll suggests that the BJP is poised to make significant gains in the state.

According to the exit poll findings, the Trinamool Congress is projected to secure around 11-14 seats, a considerable decline from its previous performance. The Congress-led INDIA bloc is expected to secure merely two seats in the upcoming elections.

The exit poll results indicate a notable surge in the BJP’s vote share, which is predicted to reach 46% in West Bengal. In contrast, the ruling Trinamool Congress is anticipated to garner 40% of the votes. The INDIA bloc is projected to receive 12% of the total votes, while other parties may secure 2% of the votes.

The significant increase in the BJP’s vote share signals a potential breakthrough in the TMC’s stronghold of South Bengal, where the party emerged victorious in the 2019 elections. Notably, all nine seats in the South Bengal region went to polls in the final phase of the elections on June 1.

Prominent leaders within the Bengal BJP express optimism about the party’s prospects in the state, envisioning victory in approximately 29 seats. They are particularly hopeful about securing wins in key constituencies such as Barasat, North Kolkata, and Mathurapur, which were contested in the recent election phase.
