Exit Polls Predict Huge Victory for BJP-Led NDA in 2024 Lok Sabha Elections
As the seventh and final phase of voting in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections concluded, the exit polls revealed a significant lead for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Most exit polls indicated that the NDA may secure over 350 seats, paving the way for Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s return to power for a third consecutive term.
The Congress and other parties forming the INDIA Alliance are projected to win around 150 seats, according to the exit poll results. Leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge expressed confidence, claiming that the INDIA bloc could secure more than 295 seats, enough to form the next government.
Prime Minister Modi, in response to the exit poll predictions, exuded confidence in a social media post, stating that the people of India have voted overwhelmingly to re-elect the NDA government. He highlighted the rejection of what he called the ‘opportunistic INDIA Alliance’ and its regressive politics by the voters.
After a meeting of leaders from various INDIA bloc parties, a strong assertion was made regarding their potential to secure a significant number of seats in the election. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge mentioned that their estimate of exceeding 295 seats was derived from extensive feedback, terming it a ‘people’s survey.’
Notably, the opposition parties, particularly Congress, dismissed the exit poll results as orchestrated by PM Modi. They emphasized that the actual results on the counting day would differ significantly from the predictions made by the exit polls.
The voting turnout in the final phase of the elections reached 58.34%, with reports of sporadic incidents of violence and complaints regarding EVM glitches and rigging at certain polling booths. The results of both the Lok Sabha polls and the votes for other Assemblies will be officially counted on June 4, determining the composition of the next government.
