Far-Right Activist Tommy Robinson Arrested in Canada for Immigration Offence
Far-right activist Tommy Robinson, known by his real name Stephen Yaxley Lennon, was arrested in Canada on suspicion of an immigration offence during a podcast tour in the city of Calgary. The 41-year-old was taken into custody by Canadian authorities and subsequently released, but with orders to remain in the country and surrender his passport.
Video footage circulating online captures the moment Robinson was handcuffed by officers and escorted into a police vehicle, following an apparent explanation by a plain-clothes police officer of an outstanding immigration warrant.
Expressing his confusion and frustration on X, formerly Twitter, Robinson stated, «None of this makes sense, I’m now detained in Calgary, prevented from leaving the city, these conditions stop me from continuing my tour of Canada and meeting with guests for podcasts. I’m not even allowed to leave to travel home.»
Robinson had traveled to Canada for a podcast tour organized by a far-right media outlet known as Rebel News, with plans to speak at events in three Canadian cities. His first stop in Calgary ended abruptly with his detention, putting a halt to his scheduled appearances in Edmonton and Toronto.
