Menaka Irani, the beloved mother of filmmakers Farah Khan and Sajid Khan, has passed away at the age of 79. She died on Friday at her son Sajid’s home in suburban Mumbai after battling a prolonged illness.

Just days before her passing, Farah shared a heartfelt post on Instagram to celebrate her mother’s 79th birthday. In her message, she mentioned that Menaka had recently undergone multiple surgeries, highlighting her strength and resilience during tough times.

Menaka Irani was not just a loving mother but also an accomplished actress, known for her role in the 1963 film ‘Bachpan,’ alongside Salim Khan. She was the sister of former child actors Honey Irani and Daisy Irani, connecting her to a rich family legacy in Indian cinema.

Farah has previously spoken about their family’s ups and downs, sharing how they were once the ‘poor cousins’ in the film industry after facing financial struggles.

Despite the hardships, Menaka’s spirit remained unbroken, as reflected in the loving words shared by her children during her birthday celebrations. Farah declared, ‘She’s been the strongest, bravest person I’ve ever seen,’ capturing the love and admiration they held for her.
