Federal MP Josh Burns’ Melbourne Office Targeted in Anti-Semitic Attack for Second Time

Federal MP Josh Burns’ electoral office in Melbourne has been subjected to another anti-Semitic vandalism attack, marking the second instance of such incident targeting the prominent politician.

The attack, which occurred at the office premises on Barkly Street in St Kilda, involved a group of at least five individuals who carried out the act in the early hours of the morning. Security footage captured the perpetrators setting fires outside the building before making a swift retreat from the scene.

The vandals not only smashed windows but also defaced the walls with graffiti, prominently displaying the slogan ‘Zionism is fascism’ in red paint across the front of the office. This incident follows previous instances where Burns, who represents the electorate of Macnamara, has been a target of anti-Semitic attacks, including defacing of his election posters.

Expressing his condemnation of the targeted attack, Josh Burns took to social media to denounce the act as politically motivated. He confirmed that he has been in communication with the Federal Police and is awaiting further instructions on the matter. As a measure of precaution, Burns mentioned that his team will remain away from the office until advised that it is safe to return, although they are still reachable via email to assist the community.

In response to the distressing nature of the incident, Burns reassured the public that more information and updates will be shared once additional details are available. The extensive damage caused to the office, including the shattered front windows and graffiti, has prompted law enforcement to launch an investigation into the fire and vandalism.
