FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 Brand Unveiled
Today marks an exciting step forward as the brand for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 has been revealed. This event is set to take place in Berlin, Germany in September 2026, showcasing the growing popularity of women’s basketball around the world.
The tournament will feature an expanded roster of 16 teams competing at two fantastic venues: Arena Berlin and Max-Schmeling Halle. The new branding draws inspiration from Berlin’s vibrant urban style and its famous sub-culture, capturing the essence of a city known for its passion and celebrations.
Designed by the branding experts at UnitedSenses, the visual identity combines the energy of Berlin’s street art with the spirit of women’s basketball. There’s even a catchy slogan, “We Own The Game,” accompanied by the hashtag #WeOwnTheGame, which boldly claims the court and the sport as part of the branding.
As the countdown begins, the excitement is already building, especially with the recent success of the German women’s national team. They made waves at the Women’s Olympic Basketball Tournament in Paris and achieved their best finish at EuroBasket 2023.
FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 ambassador, Sue Bird, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming event while promoting it in Paris. She emphasized the importance of enjoying the journey to Berlin, not just the competition itself.
This tournament will be the first of its kind held in Germany since 1998. FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis highlighted the significance of this event as a platform for women in basketball while acknowledging its growing popularity.
Ingo Weiss, President of the German Basketball Federation, joined in the excitement, looking forward to various activities aimed at boosting women’s basketball in the country.
Teams wishing to qualify will participate in global qualifying tournaments, with the Pre-Qualifying Tournaments beginning this month. It’s a chance for more teams to earn their spot in the prestigious event set for 2026.
