Kyle Flanagan is in hot water after being accused of biting Stephen Crichton during a match between the Bulldogs and Dragons. The incident supposedly took place during their game, which ended with the Bulldogs securing a solid victory.

Though the biting went unnoticed while the game was being played, Crichton raised concerns after the match. Fox League then went through the footage and brought the issue to light, prompting the match review committee to take action.

Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga commented on the situation, stating that there was “no doubt” Flanagan bit Crichton, suggesting that the evidence was quite compelling as Crichton ended up with a bleeding nose.

Former players have weighed in as well. Cooper Cronk described the video evidence as “damning,” emphasizing that biting is a serious offense in rugby league, and it is typically met with strict consequences.

Cameron Ciraldo, coach of the Bulldogs, mentioned that Crichton was unable to attend a press conference after the game because of the incident, though he didn’t dive into details about it.

Flanagan’s father, Shane Flanagan, who also coaches the Dragons, defended his son, saying that he believes Kyle when he insists he didn’t bite Crichton. Shane was unaware of the situation right after the game but later reviewed the footage and felt that Crichton’s actions warranted some reflection.

This incident adds tension for Flanagan as he faces the judiciary on Tuesday, with his position in the league possibly hanging in the balance amid this serious allegation.
