Florida Panthers' Barkov Cleared To Play For Game 3 Of Stanley Cup Final

Aleksander Barkov has been given the green light to play in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup final, easing concerns for the Florida Panthers. The team’s captain faced uncertainty after a forearm to the jaw from Leon Draisaitl in the previous game but has been deemed fit to hit the ice. Head coach Paul Maurice also confirmed that winger Vladimir Tarasenko will be in the lineup for the crucial match.

As the winner of this year’s Selke Trophy for the NHL’s best defensive forward, Barkov’s return is a significant boost for the Panthers. Despite missing the latter part of the previous game, Barkov participated in the team’s practice before heading to Alberta for the upcoming game. Tarasenko, whose injury was undisclosed, is expected to contribute to the Panthers’ efforts as well.

On the other side, the Edmonton Oilers are facing injury concerns ahead of Game 3. Defenceman Darnell Nurse is dealing with a suspected hip injury, and winger Evander Kane is managing a sports hernia concern. However, veteran forward Corey Perry is set to make an appearance, having been a healthy scratch in the last game.

Edmonton struggled in the previous game after Nurse’s absence forced them to play with a reduced defensive unit. With Nurse being a key player on their blue line, the Oilers felt the impact of his early departure from the game. Draisaitl, who was involved in the incident with Barkov, escaped further disciplinary action for the hit.

Barkov’s ability to rejoin the lineup will be crucial for the Panthers, who currently hold a 2-0 lead in the series. The combination of Barkov and his teammates has proven effective in limiting Edmonton’s star players like Draisaitl and Connor McDavid. Forward Kyle Okposo praised Barkov’s defensive skills and work ethic, highlighting his overall impact on the team’s performance.
