Former Edmonton Oilers forward Klim Kostin made a special appearance at Game 1 of the playoffs against the L.A. Kings, garnering a warm reception from fans in attendance.

Kostin, who only played one season with the Oilers, was seen sitting in the lower bowl donning his old #21 Oilers jersey as a cape, leading to a resounding ovation from the crowd.

The 24-year-old Russian forward, known for his enthusiastic demeanor and gritty style of play, quickly endeared himself to many fans during his time in Edmonton.

Kostin was traded to the Detroit Red Wings last summer due to salary cap constraints after a productive season with the Oilers, where he scored 11 goals and 21 points in the regular season.

Since then, Kostin has been traded to the San Jose Sharks, where he currently plays.

During his recent visit to Edmonton with the Sharks, Kostin expressed his affection for the city and the Oilers, creating a mutual admiration between him and the fans.

Oilers supporters took to social media expressing their fondness for Kostin and their desire to see him back in an Oilers jersey.

Despite Kostin’s current contract with the Sharks, which extends for one more season with a $2 million cap hit, fans remain hopeful that he might return to Edmonton in the future.

While a direct return to the Oilers may be challenging due to salary cap restrictions, the possibility of Kostin reuniting with the team remains a topic of interest among fans.
