Former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member Magasela Mzobe has been appointed as the head of presidency in the MK Party (MKP), pledging to support party leader Jacob Zuma in his duties. This move comes as Zuma aims to delegate some responsibilities to focus on critical matters. Mzobe expressed his commitment to streamlining operations to allow Zuma more time for presidential duties.

In an interview with TimesLIVE, Mzobe emphasized the importance of minimizing disruptions to Zuma’s office, enabling him to concentrate on essential tasks. Acknowledging Zuma’s extensive commitments, Mzobe highlighted the need for effective organization and strategic delegation within the party.

Mzobe emphasized the necessity for close collaboration between Zuma’s office and the party’s Members of Parliament (MPs). He outlined Zuma’s desire for a hands-on approach in specific areas while reducing involvement in daily operations. Mzobe’s role is intended to facilitate this transition and ensure smooth functioning within the MKP.

A former leader in the African National Congress Youth League, Mzobe has a history of working alongside Zuma during their time in the ANC. Reflecting on his decision to depart the EFF for the MKP, Mzobe stated that both parties align in their advocacy for similar constituencies and ideologies, albeit through different platforms.

When questioned about his departure from the EFF, Mzobe revealed that he had informed the party leadership promptly upon considering Zuma’s offer. He highlighted the support received from EFF leaders during this transition, emphasizing transparency and adherence to organizational protocols. Mzobe underscored that the relationship with the EFF remains amicable despite his resignation.

This strategic appointment signals a collaborative effort within the MKP to bolster Zuma’s leadership and operational capacity. Mzobe’s experience and familiarity with Zuma’s vision position him as a key player in advancing the party’s objectives and supporting the president effectively.
