Former Girlfriend of Fotis Dulos Sentenced to Prison for Role in Jennifer Dulos Case
Michelle Troconis, the former girlfriend of Fotis Dulos, has been sentenced to serve 14-and-a-half years in prison for her involvement in the disappearance and presumed murder of Jennifer Dulos.
Judge Kevin Randolph handed down the sentence on Friday, with Troconis facing up to 50 years in prison.
It has been five years and one week since Jennifer Dulos vanished after dropping her children off at school in New Canaan on May 24, 2019.
Troconis, who faced charges of conspiracy to commit murder, hindering prosecution, and evidence tampering, spoke tearfully during the sentencing hearing, expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy that affected many lives.
Before the sentencing, one count of conspiracy to commit tampering with physical evidence was vacated by the court, while the prosecution was granted permission to appeal this decision.
Prosecutors alleged that Fotis Dulos, husband of Jennifer Dulos, killed her at their home in New Canaan and disposed of her body, which has never been found. Fotis Dulos later died by suicide in 2020.
«Michelle believed Fotis and had no reason to doubt him. However, we were all deceived by Fotis,» Troconis’ mother, Marisela Arreaza, stated during court proceedings.
During the emotional sentencing, family and friends of Jennifer Dulos spoke, sharing their heartbreak and grief, with Gloria Farber, Jennifer’s mother, remembering her daughter as someone who only wanted to give and receive love and be a caring mother to her five children.
Statements from Jennifer Dulos’ five children, including Petros Dulos, highlighted the lasting impact of their mother’s absence, with Petros expressing regret for not being a better son during his parents’ divorce.
Other names mentioned during the court proceedings included the Dulos family nanny, Lauren Almeida, and Jennifer’s friend Carrie Luft, who has been the spokesperson for the family since Jennifer’s disappearance.
In closing, the State’s Attorney for the Stamford/Norwalk Judicial District, Paul Ferencek, expressed acceptance of the judge’s decision but highlighted that the trauma Troconis inflicted upon Jennifer’s family and friends may never lead to full closure.
