Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has expressed confidence in the transition period at Liverpool under the club’s new leadership.
As Arne Slot officially began his role as the Reds’ new head coach, Sturridge highlighted the key figures such as Michael Edwards and Mike Gordon, indicating the strength of the club’s backroom team.
Sturridge, who spent close to six years at Liverpool and played under Jurgen Klopp, emphasized the significant impact the departing manager had on the club, winning the Champions League in 2019.
In an interview, Sturridge praised Klopp’s accomplishments and noted that Liverpool is now undergoing a transitional phase with new signings and contracts on the horizon.
Sturridge’s confidence in Liverpool’s future lies in his familiarity with Michael Edwards and Mike Gordon, who have returned to pivotal roles within FSG’s structure.
During his time at Liverpool, Sturridge netted 67 goals in 160 appearances and played a key role in the 2013/14 season under manager Brendan Rodgers.
Despite battling injuries towards the end of his Liverpool tenure, Sturridge emphasized his gratitude for his accomplishments and the blessings in his career.
