Former Oilers Goaltender Dwayne Roloson’s Visit Inspires Stuart Skinner in Game 6 Victory
Dwayne Roloson, the former goaltender of the Oilers during their Stanley Cup Final run against the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006, made a visit to Edmonton for Game 6 of the Western Conference Final against the Dallas Stars.
Roloson shared on Oilers TV that he had a premonition earlier in the day after joking around with current Oilers netminder Stuart Skinner who was in high spirits before the game.
Skinner, inspired by his idol, Roloson, put up a stellar performance in Game 6 by stopping 34 of the 35 shots he faced despite being significantly outshot by the Stars.
Encouraging words from Roloson to Skinner included advice to have fun and give his team a chance to win, focusing on making crucial saves and enjoying the game.
Skinner, who idolized Roloson in his youth, expressed his excitement at having his favorite goalie present at the game and shared a special moment with him.
Now, Skinner and the Oilers are eyeing the coveted championship title as they seek to surpass the success of Roloson’s team from 18 years ago.
