Former Political Staffer Brittany Higgins Weds David Sharaz in a Romantic Gold Coast Ceremony
Former political staffer Brittany Higgins tied the knot with her long-term partner David Sharaz in a picturesque ceremony on the Gold Coast, surrounded by loved ones. The couple exchanged vows at The Valley Estate in Currumbin, marking the start of a new chapter in their lives.
Higgins, known for her advocacy for women in politics following a traumatic incident she experienced in 2019, shared the joyous news on her Instagram account. Posting three heartwarming photos from the event, she expressed, «Today I married my best friend. 🤍»
The magical day was set on the cusp of winter, adding to the romantic ambiance of the celebration. Higgins and Sharaz’s engagement story was equally enchanting, as Sharaz proposed on New Year’s Eve in 2022 at the Cape Byron Lighthouse in Byron Bay, NSW.
Sharaz, filled with love and excitement, took to social media the day after the proposal, declaring his affection for Higgins. «I didn’t want to enter another year without you knowing I want to spend all my years with you, Brittany Higgins,» he wrote. «I’m the luckiest guy in the world.»
The couple’s journey began in Canberra in 2020, and they have since relocated to the serene surroundings of the south of France. The wedding festivities come six weeks after a legal battle Higgins pursued against Network Ten and journalist Lisa Wilkinson.
The court ruling sided with Higgins, stating, «Mr Lehrmann raped Ms Higgins» in a senator’s office back in March 2019. Higgins, in a poignant statement following the verdict, expressed relief at the truth finally coming to light after years of legal battles. She emphasized the importance of healing and moving forward.
