Recently, the daughter of former South African President Jacob Zuma, Nomcebo Zuma, has received a marriage proposal from King Mswati III of eSwatini, capturing public attention.

A delegation representing the Zulu and eSwatini Royal families, including prominent figures such as Prince Simphiwe Zulu from the Zulu Royal family, visited the Zuma household in Nkandla to present 10 cattle as part of traditional customary practice known as ‘kucela’.

Nomcebo Zuma, aged 21, born to MaMhlongo and Jacob Zuma, has become the focus of discussions surrounding a potential marriage alliance between the Zuma and eSwatini royal families.

Prince Simphiwe Zulu, acting as a spokesperson for King Misuzulu, confirmed the visit to KwaDakwadunuse, Zuma’s private home, about a week ago where negotiations between the delegates went smoothly.

The proposal has reportedly left former President Zuma feeling betrayed by King Mswati, as it was revealed that King Mswati wished to marry Nomcebo personally rather than within the eSwatini royal family as initially assumed by Zuma.

According to sources, Nomcebo Zuma has been a frequent visitor to eSwatini, with records indicating her extended stays in the landlocked kingdom, making preparations and participating in upcoming events like the Reed Dance set for September 2 this year.

However, Edward Zuma, son of Jacob Zuma, denied any knowledge of the delegation’s visit, stating that there have been no recent events at the family home, highlighting a lack of clarity surrounding the unfolding developments.

As speculations and tensions rise, the potential marriage between Nomcebo Zuma and King Mswati III continues to captivate audiences, shedding light on complex relationships within the southern African region.
