Frank Stronach Denies Sexual Assault Allegations
Frank Stronach, the billionaire and founder of Magna International, has spoken out for the first time since being arrested in June on multiple sexual assault charges. He claims that he did nothing wrong and has expressed sympathy for the women making the allegations against him.
During an interview with CBC‘s The Fifth Estate, the 91-year-old businessman stated, «We have many pieces of information that will clearly prove these are lies.» Despite his assertions, he did not go into detail about what information he has.
Among the women accusing Stronach is a 65-year-old who will be referred to as Leigh. She shared a harrowing account of an incident that took place in 1980 when she was working as a horse groomer at one of Stronach’s stables in Aurora.
Leigh recalled being invited to a party at a Toronto bar owned by Stronach, where she claims he assaulted her on the dance floor. She said she later woke up confused and distressed in an apartment, where she realized she had been raped.
Leigh shared that the experience shattered her passion for horses and left her with feelings of shame and humiliation that led her to remain silent about the incident for many years, only speaking to police in 2015.
Stronach, who now has a new lawyer named Leora Shemesh, continues to declare his innocence. He has voiced concern over what he calls an over-regulated Canadian economy, suggesting that financial struggles may be a motive behind the accusations.
With his next court appearance scheduled for October 7 in Brampton, Stronach’s case is gathering significant public interest as the scars of past allegations resurface.
