Golf Star Charley Hull Praises Trump Amid ‘Trump Dance’ Trend
English professional golfer Charley Hull has sparked attention with her public admiration for former United States President Donald Trump. Hull voiced her support after performing the «Trump Dance,» a celebratory dance associated with Trump, during the final round of The Annika, a significant event in women’s golf.
Hull’s expressions of admiration came during an interview at the CME Group Tour Championship in Tiburon, where she described Trump as «brilliant» and «a legend.» She expressed her appreciation for his straightforwardness and directness, regardless of public opinion. «I love Trump. I think he’s brilliant,» Hull remarked, further stating, «I wish he was head of the U.K. I just like him as a person. He’s a little better than our Prime Minister.»
Hull’s comments were made amid a backdrop of political shifts in her home country, where Keir Starmer recently assumed office as Prime Minister, following a Labour Party victory that ended a 14-year Conservative governance. Starmer’s tenure has faced challenges, including a corruption scandal involving undeclared gifts to his wife from a Labour Party donor.
The «Trump Dance» has become a popular celebratory action in American sports arenas, with notable athletes from the NFL, such as San Francisco 49ers linebacker Nick Bosa and Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, participating in the trend during games.
In golf, Hull is not alone in her support for Trump. Professional golfers Bryson DeChambeau and Dustin Johnson have also shown support, with Johnson attending Trump’s election victory party. Trump has been an active figure in the golf world, playing with iconic golfers such as Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Lexi Thompson on his Florida courses.
Hull, ranked 11th in the world, continues to view Trump positively despite divisions in public opinion. She reflected on her experiences at Trump Turnberry in Scotland, highlighting it as one of the world’s finest golf courses and advocating for its continued presence in future Women’s Open Championships.
