Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer Reveals New Female Lead Character and Vice City Setting
After years of anticipation, the highly awaited Grand Theft Auto VI trailer has finally been released, providing fans with a glimpse into the game’s new features and setting. The game, developed by Rockstar, is set to take place in Vice City, a Miami-inspired location from the 2002 installment.
Unlike its predecessor, GTA 6 is modern-day, departing from the 1986 era of Vice City’s earlier version. The game is poised to introduce players to a vast in-game state called Leonida, resembling Florida, permitting exploration of a larger map and varied landscapes.
The central protagonist in GTA 6, Lucia, represents the franchise’s first female lead character. Little is known about her role, as the trailer hints at her engaging in illicit activities, dressed in prison attire. Additionally, an unnamed male character is shown, potentially Lucia’s boyfriend and co-protagonist.
While the trailer did not showcase gameplay footage, the game is expected to feature classic GTA elements such as running, driving, flying, shooting, and interacting with NPCs in an expansive open-world environment. Players can anticipate a mix of single-player campaigns, online multiplayer, and diverse mini-games.
Rockstar has provided a tentative release window for GTA 6, targeting a launch in ‘fall 2025’ for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Despite speculations of an early 2025 launch, reports suggest a potential delay in the game’s development, pushing the release date closer towards the end of the specified period.
Notably, the game will not be available on older platforms like Xbox One or PlayStation 4, emphasizing compatibility with next-gen consoles. While a PC release has not been confirmed, it remains a popular platform for GTA 5 players, indicating a potential future launch following the console debut.
