Doctors in Greeley, Colorado, made the heartbreaking decision to declare 33-year-old Jose Sambrano clinically brain dead following a tragic incident that unfolded during a police chase. Sambrano, who had been in a critical condition since the event, was removed from life support by medical professionals after sustaining severe injuries.

The series of events began when Sambrano, allegedly driving a stolen red 1998 Dodge 1500 pickup truck in Greeley, attempted to evade a Greeley Police officer’s attempt to pull him over. This led to a high-speed pursuit, culminating in a devastating collision at the intersection of 8th Avenue and 20th Street.

During the pursuit, the stolen vehicle driven by Sambrano collided with a Cadillac SUV carrying a man, woman, and child. Fortunately, while all three occupants of the SUV sustained injuries, they are expected to make a full recovery, according to authorities.

Following investigations, it was revealed that Sambrano was also linked to a burglary that occurred just before the police chase, highlighting the series of unlawful activities he was alleged to have been involved in on that fateful day.

Records indicate that Sambrano had a history of legal issues, including numerous traffic violations and past felony cases. Notably, he had previously been convicted as a habitual traffic offender and had served time in the Colorado Department of Corrections for a felony trespass charge.

Logan Smith, an experienced assignment desk editor at CBS Colorado in Denver, shared insights into the tragic incident, shedding light on Sambrano’s troubled past and the implications of the fatal collision on those involved.
