The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has officially started, running from August 9 to August 15, 2024. This initiative celebrates India‘s 78th Independence Day, encouraging everyone to proudly display the national flag at home.

Launched in 2022 under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav banner, the campaign aims to inspire feelings of patriotism among citizens. This year brings a new addition: a Tiranga Bike Rally happening on August 13, organized by various Members of Parliament.

Prime Minister Modi took to social media to encourage participation, urging people to change their profile pictures and share selfies with the flag. He expressed his excitement for making this year’s Har Ghar Tiranga a memorable movement.

For those wishing to join the campaign, a quick process allows you to download a certificate. Simply head to the official website, upload a selfie, and follow the provided instructions to generate your certificate.

Since its inception, the campaign has gained immense popularity. In 2022, over 23 crore homes displayed the flag, and last year, that figure rose to 10 crore selfies uploaded on the campaign portal.

In addition to promoting the flag’s importance, the campaign also educates people about proper flag etiquette. Guidelines established by the Flag Code of India 2002 and the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, explain how to display and treat the national flag.

When hoisting the flag, it’s essential to follow a few important rules, such as ensuring the saffron band is at the top, maintaining the flag’s condition, and using it with respect. The campaign reminds everyone that the flag isn’t just for decoration but holds deep national significance.
