After spending almost a decade at Michigan, Jim Harbaugh is back in the NFL, and guess who he’s facing first? That’s right, it’s his old rivals, the Seattle Seahawks.

During his time as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014, Harbaugh had quite the rivalry with the Seahawks. He and former Seattle head coach Pete Carroll made for one of the most intense matchups in football back in the early 2010s.

Now, as Harbaugh takes the field again, there’s a twist. Instead of Carroll leading the Seahawks, it’s his own son, Jay Harbaugh, who is now working as Seattle’s special teams coordinator. This adds a personal touch to the upcoming game.

Ahead of Saturday’s match-up, Jim expressed how excited he is to see his son on the opposing side. He said, «Can’t wait. Miss him. Miss Jay, miss Jacob and Norma and Brhitney [Jay’s son, daughter, and wife], but very proud. Very proud of Jay and what he’s accomplished, what he’s accomplishing now.»

He continued, «I know it’s going to be a real competition and real test for our special teams unit. I know he’s going to bring it. It’s really good for us. At the same time, son Jay, that’s going to be cool. We’ve been on opposite sidelines two or three other times, but it’s all love.»

This isn’t the first time Jim has faced off against Jay. Back when Jay was with the Baltimore Ravens in 2012-2014, they met in Super Bowl 47, where the Ravens won, 34-31.
