Hardik Pandya Displeased with Tilak Varma’s Approach in DC vs MI Clash
Mumbai Indians‘ skipper, Hardik Pandya, expressed his dissatisfaction with the match awareness displayed by left-handed batsman Tilak Varma during the intense game against the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Addressing the missed opportunity during Axar Patel‘s spell, Pandya highlighted that Varma’s failure to capitalize on the matchup cost them the game. Patel, the left-arm bowler, conceded 24 runs in the two overs he bowled, putting Mumbai Indians under pressure.
Varma emerged as the top scorer for Mumbai Indians, showcasing remarkable batting skills by scoring 63 runs off 32 balls, including 4 boundaries and 4 sixes. Despite his impressive performance, Pandya believed that a better decision could have been made during a critical phase of the game.
Reflecting on the tight match, Pandya noted the evolving nature of the competition, emphasizing the need for strategic game approaches. He lamented the missed opportunities in the middle overs, which could have potentially altered the outcome in Mumbai Indians’ favor.
The captain also lauded the innings played by DC’s Fraser-McGurk, who smashed 84 runs off 27 balls, comprising 11 fours and 6 sixes. Along with strong performances from Rasikh Dar Salam, Mukesh Kumar, and Khaleel Ahmed in the pace attack, the Delhi Capitals secured a crucial victory over Mumbai Indians.
Following the match, Rishabh Pant‘s team currently occupies the 5th position on the points table with 10 points, while Mumbai Indians find themselves in the 9th position with 6 points and room for improvement in the upcoming fixtures.
