This past Saturday, Hearts B secured a solid win in the Lowland League, triumphing over Gala Fairydean Rovers with an impressive scoreline of 5-1 at Netherdale.

The match got off to a flying start for Hearts, with James Wilson netting two goals early on, alongside a simple tap-in from Mackenzie Ross. While Gala managed to find the net once before halftime, Hearts controlled most of the game, limiting Gala’s chances and adding two more goals in the final moments of the match.

In a bid to shake things up after their recent penalty shootout loss to Fraserburgh, manager Liam Fox made several changes to the starting lineup. James Wilson, Finlay Pollock, Luke Rathie, and Macaulay Tait stepped in, while the likes of Lucas Smith, Ryan Duncan, Dom Plank, and Matty Gillies found themselves on the bench.

Hearts wasted no time making their mark, with Pollock almost finding the net from a free kick. Just nine minutes in, Wilson opened the scoring thanks to a clever low cross from Bobby McLuckie, demonstrating great alertness to finish with precision.

Things continued to go the way of the maroon team as Pollock sent in another dangerous cross, with McLuckie again involved, setting up Ross for an easy goal at the 23-minute mark. The attacking pressure kept mounting, and two minutes later, Wilson struck again, curling a shot past Gala’s keeper, Sam Scott.

Hearts was on fire, and although a potential fourth was denied by the post later in the first half, Gala managed to pull one back just before the whistle. After Jamie MacDonald made a solid save, Kieran Dolan was quick to respond, firing home the rebound.

At halftime, the score stood at 1-3 in favor of Hearts. The second half felt a bit more disjointed, with Gala trying to make an impact primarily through set plays, but they struggled to create real threats against Hearts’ defense.

Fresh legs were introduced as Dom Plank and Gus Stevenson came on, though a near miss from Plank kept the second half exciting. Eventually, Hearts struck again through Sandilands, who scored a beautiful goal after a patient build-up involving Plank.

To cap off a dominant performance, Sandilands turned provider in stoppage time, sprinting down the left flank and setting up Stevenson for a final goal, confirming a well-deserved victory for the Jambos.
