Fatman Scoop, a prominent figure in the hip-hop scene, suffered a medical emergency while performing at a concert in Hamden, Connecticut, on Friday evening. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. at Hamden Town Center Park.

Witnesses reported that Freeman, who is known for his energetic performances, passed out behind the DJ booth. Following his collapse, concert attendees rushed to assist, administering CPR as the music was paused. Video recordings from the event show the rapid response by the crowd.

According to Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett, the rapper was transported to a local hospital for treatment. She stated, «We will provide updates when they are available. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.» At this point, Freeman’s medical condition remains unclear.

Fatman Scoop, whose real name is Isaac Freeman II, is a 53-year-old artist celebrated for hits such as Missy Elliott’s «Lose Control» and Mariah Carey‘s «It’s Like That,» as well as his own 1999 club anthem «Be Faithful.» He has collaborated with numerous artists, including the Ying Yang Twins, Rihanna, and LL Cool J.

The incident has raised concerns among fans and fellow artists, with rapper Juicy J expressing his support. Other social media users have shared their well-wishes for Freeman, reflecting on his significant impact on the hip-hop industry.

Freeman’s latest music video for «Let It Go» featuring Dyce Payso was released just hours before the concert, adding a poignant note to the day’s events.
