Hope Chest Buffalo Niagara Dragon Boat Festival Returns for 11th Year in Support of Breast Cancer Survivors
The 11th annual Hope Chest Buffalo Niagara Dragon Boat Festival, a significant event supporting breast cancer survivors, is all set to make a return this coming Saturday. The festival, which will take place at Buffalo RiverWorks, promises a day filled with various activities, including dragon boat races, a 50/50 drawing, basket raffle, merchandise sale, refreshments, and entertainment for children.
All funds raised during the festival will be directed to Hope Chest of Buffalo, aiding their cause in supporting breast cancer survivors in the community. Beyond its charitable cause, the festival aims to bring together participants from diverse backgrounds to engage in paddling exercises while enjoying a competitive and fun event.
Deb Carella, a Board Member at Hope Chest, highlighted the importance of the annual event, stating, ‘The annual Buffalo Niagara Dragon Boat Festival is the primary fundraiser for Hope Chest. This event enables us to raise significant funds to continue the mission of Hope Chest while incorporating paddling exercise into a fun, competitive event for Breast Cancer survivors and the Western New York community. This year, we are excited to welcome a team from California that will also be competing in the Breast Cancer Survivor division.’
For those not participating in the paddling activities, there will be other engaging events to partake in, including a Basket Raffle, 50/50 drawing, and various family-friendly activities, ensuring an entertaining day for all attendees.
The festival will include a touching carnation ceremony, honoring the memory of women who have lost their lives to breast cancer, and paying tribute to those who are continuing their fight against the disease. It is a poignant moment that brings the community together to celebrate strength and resilience in the face of adversity.
