Houston Astros Home Stadium to be Renamed Daikin Park
HOUSTON – The Houston Astros have announced that their home stadium, Minute Maid Park, will be renamed Daikin Park at the start of 2025. This change comes as part of a new naming rights agreement with Daikin Comfort Technologies North America, a subsidiary of Japan’s Daikin Industries Ltd. The agreement extends through the 2039 season, marking a significant shift for the venue previously known as «The Juice Box.»
The stadium initially opened as Enron Field in 2000, following a 30-year, $100 million naming rights deal. However, in the wake of Enron Corporation’s bankruptcy filing in March 2002, the stadium was briefly renamed Astros Field. It later became Minute Maid Park in June 2002, under a partnership with Minute Maid, a Houston-based subsidiary of Coca-Cola Co. At the time, then-Astros owner Drayton McLane announced that this arrangement was set for 28 years and valued at more than $100 million.
«Minute Maid will remain an Astros partner through 2029,» the team said in their announcement, indicating a continuing relationship beyond the sale of naming rights. Daikin, recognized as a leading air-conditioning company, has been present in the Houston area since opening its factory in Waller in 2016.
The change marks a notable development for Astros fans, as Minute Maid Park has been a staple of the community for over two decades. Daikin’s investment reflects its deepening ties with the Houston community, mirroring the growth and modernization trends in sports and entertainment facilities globally.
