Houston Rockets Commit to Alperen Sengun as a Key Player in the Franchise
The Houston Rockets have demonstrated their commitment to making Alperen Sengun a central figure in their team by signing him to a five-year extension prior to the commencement of the current NBA season. Although the Rockets have only played 15 games, this decision appears to be justified by Sengun’s impressive performances and the team’s overall promising start.
Eric Pincus, a writer for Bleacher Report, recently acknowledged Sengun as one of the top NBA players with a non-max contract. In a statement, Pincus remarked, «Houston expects to return to the playoffs this postseason. The team paid Jalen Green and Şengün this summer on extensions starting next summer. Şengün is a discount this year, but not for long.» He further noted, «Still, he makes the list because he’ll earn about $4.7 million below next year’s max. Green, at $12.5 million this season but also above $33 million next year, was considered as well, but Şengün is more than half the price for the Rockets.»
The Rockets strategically decided to sign Sengun a year early to save finances, which could potentially be allocated to future team investments. Sengun’s recent performances have reinforced the wisdom of this decision as the Rockets have displayed strong form.
Looking ahead, the Rockets are scheduled to face the Indiana Pacers at their next game, with the tipoff set for 7 p.m. CT. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Sengun to see if he continues to justify the trust the Rockets have placed in him.
