Hunter Armstrong Wins Gold Again at the Paris Olympics
Hunter Armstrong, a former swimmer for Ohio State, has struck gold once more, adding to his Olympic achievements. This time, he played a crucial role in the United States’ 4×100-meter freestyle relay team, which snagged the top spot at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The U.S. team, featuring Armstrong alongside Jack Alexy, Chris Guiliano, and Caeleb Dressel, showcased their skills at La Defense Arena in Paris. They completed the relay in an impressive time of 3:09.28, outpacing their rivals from Australia and Italy to claim the gold medal.
In this relay, Armstrong swam the third leg and delivered the fastest split time among his teammates, setting up Dressel to seal the victory. This event marks a significant milestone for Armstrong, who has already proven his talents on the Olympic stage.
Prior to this achievement, Armstrong was part of the gold-winning team for the U.S. in the 4×100-meter medley relay at the Tokyo Olympics, which occurred in the summer of 2021. Earlier that same year, during the Olympic Trials, he placed second in the 100-meter backstroke, finishing just behind 2016 Olympic champion Ryan Murphy.
Armstrong’s collegiate swimming career with Ohio State was also noteworthy. In 2022, he dazzled at the Big Ten Championship, winning five titles. He later helped secure Ohio State’s best-ever finish at the NCAA Championship meet.
This Sunday, fans can look forward to seeing Armstrong in action again as he competes individually in the 100-meter backstroke.
