A hyena that went missing from the Jos Wildlife Park in Plateau State has been successfully located and captured, bringing relief to residents in the area.

The Plateau State Tourism Corporation, under the leadership of Chuwang Pwajok, announced on Tuesday that the escaped hyena had been found following an extensive search operation. The animal was promptly tranquilized and safely returned to its enclosure.

In a statement released by the corporation, it expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation and assistance during the search and rescue mission. The collective efforts of the community greatly facilitated the swift recovery of the hyena.

Earlier reports had indicated that the hyena, housed at the Jos Wildlife Park situated in Dong Community within Jos North Local Government Area, had triggered fear and panic after it broke free from its confinement on Sunday.

The incident had caused alarm among residents of Dong and surrounding areas, including the state and Federal Low-Cost communities, over the past two days as authorities worked tirelessly to locate the missing hyena.
