IKEA Launches Virtual Recruitment Drive on Roblox to Attract Teen Talent
First Ryanair, now flatpack chairs – IKEA is coming to Roblox. Last year, The Register observed that teens were being tirelessly shuttled through airport procedures in the kids’ metaverse world of Roblox, reaching the millionth flight milestone.
Now, a new digital adventure awaits the young Roblox users as they can experience the maze-like one-way system synonymous with the Swedish furniture giant, IKEA.
Roblox, often considered a platform that enables young creators to showcase their imaginative worlds, is hosting the latest venture from IKEA within its realm, titled ‘The Co-Worker Game.’ This virtual experience is set to immediately engage players in a world of routine tasks and virtual job simulations.
Roblox’s reputation as a game creation haven where users can craft their own digital experiences is aligning with the venture IKEA is taking to recruit talent through the game platform. This partnership will offer ten available roles, with applicants required to be over 18 years old – limiting the application pool mainly to adults in the UK and Ireland.
The innovative recruitment strategy implemented through Roblox integrates a unique approach to engaging potential recruits, with IKEA’s Country People and Culture Manager, Darren Taylor, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to career flexibility and growth.
The ‘Co-Worker Game’ within Roblox will enable players to explore various IKEA settings, from navigating the Swedish Food Market to organizing showrooms with IKEA products like the popular HEMNES range. Participants also stand a chance to earn exclusive in-game assets from IKEA.
For unemployed young adults enamored with Roblox, this initiative could offer a playful yet insightful glimpse into the world of IKEA and its career opportunities. Ultimately, IKEA’s unique approach to talent recruitment in the digital space could pave the way for more innovative strategies in the business world.
