Illinois State to Host North Dakota in Season Finale
NORMAL, Ill. — The University of North Dakota‘s (UND) football team is set to conclude its 2024 season with a matchup against Illinois State University at Hancock Stadium. The game, scheduled to kick off at noon on Saturday, marks the final regular-season game for both teams.
Illinois State, currently ranked No. 13, returns home following a road victory against Indiana State. In that game, the Redbirds secured a 31-19 win in Terre Haute, Indiana, last Saturday. The team’s performance was highlighted in a broadcast of the weekly «Redbird Football Coaches Show,» presented by Redbird Ale from DESTIHL. Illinois State’s head coach Brock Spack discussed the team’s strategies and previewed the upcoming clash with North Dakota during the show.
As the game unfolds, fans and commentators will turn their attention to the field, awaiting exciting plays and strategic maneuvers. In the first quarter, Illinois State took an early lead after UND missed a 47-yard field goal. The Redbirds capitalized on the opportunity, with Eddie Kasper executing a trick play that resulted in a 30-yard touchdown pass to Xavier Loyd after converting a fourth-and-inches situation.
UND promptly responded as quarterback Simon Romfo managed a 6-yard scramble to pick up a third-and-5 before connecting with Nate DeMontagnac for a 20-yard touchdown pass. DeMontagnac found himself wide open on a slant route, assisted by teammate Bo Belquist, who drew coverage away on a shorter route.
Illinois State is preparing to celebrate Senior Day with this matchup, marking an emotional point for senior players who will be honored for their contributions over the years.
