India Achieves Historic Success at Paris Paralympics 2024
India has made a remarkable mark at the Paris Paralympics 2024, achieving significant success across various sports. As of August 30, the country has secured a total of five medals, which include two notable golds won by the exceptional shooter Avani Lekhara.
Avani Lekhara made history by becoming the first Indian athlete to win two gold medals at the Paralympic Games. She achieved this feat in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing event, demonstrating her exceptional skills. This event mirrored her success at the Tokyo Games, where she also clinched gold.
In addition to Lekhara’s impressive accomplishment, newcomer Mona Agarwal showcased her talent by earning a bronze medal in the same event. Her performance is especially commendable as this is her debut at the Paralympics.
Medals were also earned by other talented Indian athletes. Preethi Pal secured a bronze in the Women’s 100m T35 event, while Manish Narwal added a silver to India’s tally in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol event, replicating his gold-winning performance from the Tokyo Games.
On August 31, Rubina Francis contributed to the medal count by winning a bronze medal in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 event. This further emphasizes the strength and depth of India’s participation in the Paralympic Games.
The continued success of Indian athletes at the Paralympics serves as an inspiration and highlights the commitment and determination present within the country’s sports community.
