India Women’s Cricket Team Gears Up for Women’s Asia Cup Defending Title
The Indian Women’s Cricket Team is all set to defend their title at the Women's Asia Cup, beginning on July 19 in Sri Lanka. Led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, the team has arrived in Dambulla for the tournament, aiming to continue their dominance in the region.
This year, the tournament will be played in the T20 format, with full-member nations such as India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, and UAE participating in the competition.
India, the seven-time champions, has been placed in Group A along with traditional rival Pakistan, as well as Nepal and UAE. The host nation Sri Lanka, who finished as runners-up in the last edition, will host the tournament.
In the opening game of the tournament, Nepal will face UAE, while India will take on Pakistan on July 19 in Dambulla. The top two teams from Group A and Group B will advance to the semi-finals, which are scheduled for July 26, with the finals set for July 28.
