Indian men’s doubles badminton pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are on fire this year! Since the start of 2023, they have been performing exceptionally well in various tournaments and clinching multiple medals.

A significant part of their incredible success can be traced back to their Danish coach, Mathias Boe. Known for his sharp tactics and insights, Boe has played a crucial role in guiding the duo on their path to stardom.

Boe, who is no stranger to success himself, once labeled Rankireddy and Shetty as ‘the best in the world.’ His confidence in them seems to be paying off, as they continue to break records and make headlines.

To give you a little background, Mathias Boe was born in July 1980 in Frederikssund, Denmark. Before stepping into coaching, he had a remarkable career as a left-handed doubles badminton player. He earned accolades alongside his partner Carsten Mogensen, including winning the European Championships in 2006, the Denmark Open and French Open in 2010, and even snagged an Olympic silver medal in 2012!

After retiring from professional badminton in April 2020, citing mental fatigue, Boe decided to share his expertise as the coach of the Indian national men’s doubles team. His transition from player to coach has been nothing short of inspiring.

Interestingly, while he’s busy helping Indian badminton players soar, he also found time for love. Mathias Boe has been in a relationship with Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu since 2013, and they tied the knot in 2024 after being together for over a decade.
