Indian social media influencer Aanvi Kamdar met a tragic end during a leisure trip to the picturesque Kumbhe waterfall in Raigad district, Maharashtra. The 27-year-old, known for her travel blog under the handle @theglocaljournal, was shooting Instagram reels with friends when the unfortunate accident occurred.

According to reports from the Mangaon police, Kamdar slipped and fell into a 300-foot gorge while capturing a video at the waterfall site, located about 80 miles from Mumbai. Her friends immediately alerted local authorities, prompting a coordinated rescue operation involving the Coast Guard, Kolad rescue team, and Maharashtra State Electricity Board staff.

The rescuers faced numerous challenges during the operation, with the treacherous terrain and steady rainfall complicating the rescue efforts. Despite the valiant attempts to save Kamdar, she succumbed to her injuries at the Mangaon Taluka Government Hospital.

This tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the risks associated with creating social media content in potentially hazardous environments, especially during the monsoon season. Authorities have issued cautionary statements advising tourists to prioritize safety when visiting waterfalls or engaging in risky activities.

Notably, this unfortunate event follows a similar incident in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where a 23-year-old woman lost her life after her Toyota Etios car plunged into a valley while filming an Instagram reel. The police reported that the woman, identified as a resident of Hanuman Nagar, accidentally pressed the car’s accelerator instead of the brake, leading to the fatal accident.
