In front of a packed Mohegan Sun Arena, the Indiana Fever suffered a defeat in their regular season opener against the Connecticut Sun. The game, which drew a sold-out crowd, showcased a competitive matchup between the two teams.

Aside from Clark, forward NaLyssa Smith stood out for the Fever, contributing 13 points and grabbing a team-leading nine rebounds. This game marked Smith’s 50th occasion of scoring in double figures in her 64-game career.

Guard Kelsey Mitchell and Erica Wheeler also made notable contributions, with Mitchell scoring eight points off the bench and Wheeler finishing with eight points and two assists.

Connecticut Sun showcased a balanced scoring effort, with five players reaching double figures. Forward Alyssa Thomas pulled off an impressive triple-double, tallying 13 points, 13 assists, and 10 rebounds during the game.

DeWanna Bonner led the Sun with 20 points, further solidifying her position as the WNBA’s fifth all-time leading scorer. Guards DiJonai Carrington and Tyasha Harris added 16 points each, while Rachel Banham chipped in with 10 points off the bench.

The Indiana Fever will look to bounce back as they prepare to face the New York Liberty in their upcoming home game. The Fever will aim to regroup and put up a strong performance in front of their home crowd.
