Indiana Pacers Sign Center Moses Brown Amid Injury Crisis
The Indiana Pacers have announced the signing of 7-foot-2 center Moses Brown, following a series of injuries that have left the team’s frontline severely depleted. According to ESPN sources, Brown’s contract comes as a response to the recent injuries that have sidelined all three of the Pacers’ centers.
Myles Turner, the starting center for the Pacers, missed Monday’s matchup against the Toronto Raptors due to a right calf injury. Turner had an impressive performance in his previous game, scoring 34 points and securing nine rebounds. However, the team now faces long-term absences of backups Isaiah Jackson and James Wiseman, both of whom have been ruled out for the season after suffering torn Achilles tendons.
Moses Brown, aged 25, is expected to join the Pacers by Wednesday, with hopes that he will be ready for the upcoming game against the Houston Rockets. Brown has played for multiple NBA teams, including the Portland Trail Blazers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Dallas Mavericks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Brooklyn Nets. He has appeared in 150 games over his six-year career, with an average of 5.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
Before joining the Pacers, Brown was playing for the Westchester Knicks in the NBA G League, where he delivered standout performances. He averaged 18.5 points and 13.5 rebounds, showcasing notable efficiency and skill on the court. Brown has also shown potential in regular-season G League games, maintaining averages of 15.2 points and 10.0 rebounds per game throughout his career.
The Brooklyn native began his basketball journey as a top high school star in New York City before spending one year at UCLA. During his time there, he averaged 9.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, earning a place on the Pac-12 All-Freshman team. Despite going undrafted in 2019, Brown quickly found his way into the NBA, initially signing with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Brown’s addition to the Indiana roster fills an urgent need, as the Pacers aim to strengthen their lineup amidst their current injury challenges. Team officials remain positive about his impact and hope that he will enhance their competitiveness in the upcoming games.
