Investigation Launched into Mysterious Death of Irish Tourist in Magaluf
An investigation has been initiated following the mysterious death of an Irish tourist in Mallorca‘s Punta Ballena area. The 45-year-old man, identified as Michael Grant, was discovered with bite marks and leg injuries in the early hours of Monday on Carrer Martín Ros García. The incident is being probed by the Civil Guard to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
The Sun has reported that former murder squad detective Peter Bleksley has expressed concerns over the case. Grant, a youth football coach from Waterford, was on holiday with his family and other families at the Sol Katmandu Park and Resort in Magaluf when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Grant was found unresponsive on the street in the early hours of the morning, and initial examinations indicated bite marks and leg injuries which may be consistent with a hit-and-run incident. Despite efforts to revive him, he could not be saved, leaving authorities puzzled over the circumstances.
Due to the unusual nature of the case, Guardia Civil are examining CCTV footage from the area to piece together the events leading to Grant’s death. Investigators are considering multiple theories, including the possibility of foul play, as they await the results of the scheduled autopsy on Tuesday.
The Waterford community, where Grant was a well-respected figure at St Joseph’s AFC Waterford football club, has been deeply shaken by the news. Tributes have poured in for the beloved coach, highlighting his positive impact on the local football community and his role as a mentor and friend.
