This year’s auction saw fierce bidding wars amongst franchises eager to secure top talent. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spent a staggering ₹27 crore to acquire star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant. Additionally, Shreyas Iyer moved to Punjab Kings for ₹26.75 crore, while Venkatesh Iyer joined the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) roster for ₹23.75 crore.
Punjab Kings, aggressive in their approach, successfully brought back fast bowler Arshdeep Singh for ₹18 crore using the Right-to-Match (RTM) card. They also roped in spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for the same amount. The franchise is reportedly keen on adding depth with a mix of experience and young talent. KL Rahul‘s move to Delhi Capitals for ₹14 crore also made headlines as teams hustled to enhance their strengths.
Franchises approached the table with strategies tailored to fill specific gaps. Gujarat Titans secured South African bowler Kagiso Rabada for ₹10.75 crore, while Mitchell Starc, hailing from Australia, joined Delhi Capitals at ₹11.75 crore.
The auction showcased an exciting blend of seasoned veterans and emerging players. Among other notable acquisitions, Jos Buttler was signed by Gujarat Titans for ₹15.75 crore, and the Sunrisers Hyderabad fortified their squad with the additions of bowler Mohammad Shami and all-rounder Harshal Patel at ₹10 crore and ₹8 crore, respectively.
