Italian boxer Danilo Creati has issued a stern warning to his upcoming opponent Nikita Tszyu, cautioning against targeting his previously injured right eye in their upcoming super welterweight title fight.
Unbeaten in all eight professional fights, Tszyu has expressed his desire for a gritty battle akin to his brother Tim‘s recent world title showdown against Sebastian Fundora.
Creati, who sported a scar over his right eye from a recent bout with Marcus Heywood, has voiced concerns about Tszyu focusing on that vulnerable spot, with both the challenger and promoter George Rose labeling it a risky move.
In an interview with Fox Sports Australia, Creati highlighted his unique fighting style and the use of a homemade aloe elixir to aid the healing process of his cut, emphasizing that the injury won’t impede his performance in the ring.
Rose emphasized the challenges Tszyu might face in landing significant blows on the elusive Creati, noting the latter’s evasive tactics and the potential for the Australian boxer to exhaust himself chasing the Italian fighter.
Despite being the betting underdog, Creati remains confident in his ability to outmaneuver Tszyu, pointing out his opponent’s perceived defensive weaknesses and expressing readiness to capitalize on any mistakes made during the bout.
The upcoming fight, scheduled on April 24, promises to be a highly anticipated clash between two skilled fighters, with undercard matches featuring talented boxers like Jerome Pampellone, Mateo Tapia, Linn Sandstrom, Benjamin Hussain, and Jasmine Parr.
