Jack Doohan to Become Australia’s Next Formula 1 Driver for Alpine in 2025

Jack Doohan has been officially announced as the newest driver for Alpine in the 2025 Formula 1 season. This announcement was made by the French team on Friday afternoon, Australian Eastern Standard Time.

The 21-year-old Australian driver, whose father is the renowned five-time motorcycle world champion Mick Doohan, will partner with Pierre Gasly at Alpine. Doohan is set to replace Esteban Ocon, who will be moving to Haas next season.

The announcement marks a significant milestone in Doohan’s racing career, with the talented driver expressing his excitement on social media, calling it ‘a dream come true.’ He acknowledged the sacrifices made by his family in his journey to reach this level.

Doohan will make his debut in front of his home crowd at the Australian Grand Prix, scheduled for March 16, 2025, at Albert Park in Melbourne. This debut adds to the pride of his family and supporters.

The elevation of Doohan further increases the representation of Australian drivers in Formula 1, with Oscar Piastri already signed on with McLaren, and Daniel Ricciardo still in contention at Red Bull. If Ricciardo maintains his position, it will mark the first time in nearly 50 years that three Australians will compete in Formula 1 simultaneously.
