Jake Paul Considers Challenge from IBF Champion Daniel Dubois
Social media influencer and boxer Jake Paul has expressed his interest in taking on IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, following an invitation sent via Instagram. The proposal comes in the wake of Paul’s recent high-profile victory against former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson at AT&T Stadium in Texas, a bout that generated significant financial interest despite criticism over the age difference between the fighters.
Paul revealed his consideration of the bout by sharing a screenshot of the Instagram message from Dubois, which read, «Hi Jake, good business on the weekend but how would you feel fighting for the legitimate heavyweight championship of the world? This is Daniel Dubois calling you out. Let’s get it on.» In response, Paul humorously advised Dubois to «get in line,» indicating his interest in negotiating a potential showdown.
Dubois, who successfully retained his title with a knockout against Anthony Joshua on September 21 at Wembley Stadium, is reportedly looking at alternative opponents due to questions surrounding Joshua’s readiness for a rematch. Dubois floored Joshua four times before winning in front of 98,000 fans, solidifying his status in the boxing community.
Paul’s foray into boxing has made him a polarizing figure in the sports world, attracting attention from several established boxers. In addition to Dubois, Artur Beterbiev, the current undisputed light-heavyweight champion, has also issued a challenge to Paul via social media. Beterbiev recently became the undisputed champion in his weight class after defeating Dmitry Bivol.
Other notable names have expressed interest in fighting Paul, including retired super-middleweight champion Carl Froch. However, Paul dismissed Froch’s taunts, sparking a heated exchange on social media centered around the English boxer’s retired status.
While Dubois and his promoter, Frank Warren, are exploring other potential matchups with fighters such as Joseph Parker and Fabio Wardley, a bout with Paul could prove a lucrative option. Dubois has made clear his desire to square off against Paul, adding the YouTuber to his list of possible future opponents.
Paul has also hinted at a desire to fight Canelo Alvarez, another superstar in the boxing world. Following his victory over Tyson, Paul stated, «Canelo needs me, so I’m not even going to try and call him out. He knows he wants a payday,» suggesting that a match against Alvarez would be a significant financial opportunity.
