James Milner Sets Premier League Record
James Milner has kicked off his 23rd season in the Premier League, setting a new record. The 38-year-old midfielder played for Brighton in a match against Everton, showcasing his experience and skill on the pitch.
This was Milner’s second season with Brighton, and he made his debut back in 2002 with Leeds. Starting this match, he marked his 636th appearance in the league, just 17 shy of Gareth Barry’s all-time record.
The veteran player joined a midfield that included summer signings and helped Brighton secure a convincing 3-0 victory against Everton. Milner, who is now older than Brighton’s manager, Fabian Hurzeler, was instrumental in giving the team a strong start to the season.
Milner’s journey through the Premier League has seen him play for several clubs, including Newcastle, Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Liverpool, winning numerous titles along the way.
This achievement surpassed the previous record held by Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs, who had played in 22 seasons. Milner’s impressive performance and longevity in the league are remarkable, and fans are eager to see how he will continue this season.
During Brighton’s match against Everton, goals from Kaoru Mitoma, Danny Welbeck, and Simon Adingra secured the win. The team is looking strong under Hurzeler’s management as they head into their next match against Manchester United.
