James Ward-Prowse Set for Nottingham Forest Loan Move
Nottingham Forest has reached an agreement to sign James Ward-Prowse from West Ham United on a season-long loan deal. This move comes as the midfielder, who turned 29 this year, has found himself further down the pecking order at West Ham following the arrival of new players.
Ward-Prowse joined West Ham from Southampton last summer for a reported fee of £30 million. In his debut season at the London Stadium, he made 52 appearances and scored seven goals. However, he has only managed to feature for a mere 16 minutes in the Premier League this season under new head coach Julen Lopetegui.
The deal between Nottingham Forest and West Ham is a straightforward loan agreement, and as it stands, there has been no option to buy discussed. Ward-Prowse is expected to complete a medical ahead of his proposed transfer to the City Ground.
Despite his impressive contributions in terms of goals and being recognized as one of the best set-piece specialists in the Premier League, West Ham is reportedly looking for a midfielder with better passing skills to enhance their overall build-up play. As a result, they are also in discussions to sign Carlos Soler from Valencia.
In addition to the transfer of Ward-Prowse, Nottingham Forest has seen significant activity in the summer transfer window, making nine new signings, including prominent midfielders.
