Influential Major League Baseball player Joey Votto announced his retirement on his Instagram account, marking the end of an illustrious career.
This decision comes after Votto’s recent performance, where he hit .165 while playing in Buffalo. Given the circumstances, he expressed a desire to dedicate time to his family. Over the years, Votto has established a Hall of Fame-type career, finishing with an impressive .294 batting average, .409 on-base percentage, .511 slugging percentage, 356 home runs, 2,135 hits, and 1,144 RBI over 17 seasons.
In his heartfelt message, he expressed gratitude to his parents, Wendy and Joe, for their unwavering support in helping him achieve his dream of becoming a professional baseball player. He also thanked his brother, Tyler Votto, for years of practice, notably tossing wiffle balls during his youth.
