Josh Brolin Recalls Hollywood Incident Involving Marlon Brando and Scientology

Actor Josh Brolin has opened up about a peculiar incident involving late Hollywood legend Marlon Brando at a star-studded dinner party hosted by Brolin’s stepmother, iconic singer and actress Barbra Streisand. The revelation comes from Brolin’s new memoir, «From Under the Truck.»

During a gathering at Streisand’s home, Marlon Brando reportedly participated in a Scientology exercise led by actor and renowned Scientologist John Travolta. The exercise was intended to «heal» Brando’s injured leg. According to Brolin, what started as a seemingly bizarre situation turned into an «amazing collective experience.» Brolin recounted his thoughts at the time, saying, «At the time, I was like, ‘What the [expletive] is going on?’ Now I look back on it and go, ‘That was such a sweet moment,'» he told IndieWire.

He further reflected on the event, stating, «Scientology has nothing to do with it. I got to see somebody take care of somebody else in this thoughtful way. It’s funny how your perspective can change.»

Barbra Streisand, who married James Brolin in 1998, has frequently hosted such events. Brando, best known for his role in «The Godfather,» passed away in 2004. Brolin did not specify when this particular incident occurred, but it is assumed to have happened in the 1990s. Travolta, whose involvement in Scientology spans several years, allegedly consulted with a Church executive regarding roles he was offered, including his character in «Pulp Fiction.»

Brolin’s memoir also covers his personal and professional journey, including his early success in «The Goonies,» challenges with addiction, and his roles in critically acclaimed films like «No Country for Old Men» and «Milk.» His family dynamics, including his relationship with his father James Brolin and stepmother Barbra Streisand, are also central themes in his writings.

The memoir arrives at a time of career reflection for Brolin, who expressed disappointment over not being included in future «Deadpool» projects after portraying the character Cable in «Deadpool 2.» He remarked on the franchise, saying, «Cable was a lot of fun. I really liked doing that role.» In recent news, the cancellation of «Outer Range,» a series where Brolin starred as a Wyoming rancher, has also been confirmed following the release of its second season.
