Kaepernick Still Dreaming of NFL Comeback
Colin Kaepernick is back in the spotlight, expressing his desire to return to the NFL. With his 36th birthday just around the corner, Kaepernick still feels he has what it takes to contribute to a team and help them win.
It’s been seven long seasons since Kaepernick last played, back when he was quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. He famously knelt during the national anthem in 2016, sparking a movement against racial injustice. Since then, he hasn’t played a single NFL game, even as he consistently expresses his eagerness to return.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Kaepernick shared, “We’re still training, still pushing. Hopefully, we just gotta get one of these team owners to open up.” He remains dedicated to his training in hopes of landing a role on a team.
Last season, he even offered to join the New York Jets as a backup when their starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with an injury. Unfortunately for Kaepernick, the Jets opted for Trevor Siemian instead, leaving him once again without an NFL opportunity.
Kaepernick’s journey is not just about football; he’s also interested in pursuing flag football in the upcoming Olympics. This would mark an exciting new chapter for him, as he hopes to showcase his skills on a different stage.
Throughout his NFL career, Kaepernick was able to lead the 49ers to Super Bowl XLVII, though they lost to the Baltimore Ravens. With a notable record under his belt, fans and players alike are still wondering if he’ll ever get that second chance to hit the field again.
