Kajari Teej Festival Celebrations Today
Kajari Teej, an important festival for married women, is being celebrated today. This festival is observed three days after Raksha Bandhan, and this year it falls on August 22.
On this day, women pray for the long life of their husbands and perform a strict fast without water, similar to Karva Chauth. They worship Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati and offer their prayers to the moon in the evening.
It’s a tradition to swing on this day, which has been happening for years. Women also dress up in 16 adornments to observe the festival properly.
For those taking part in the celebrations, there are some important rules to follow. Wearing green clothes is recommended, but if they don’t have any, red is an acceptable alternative.
Married women are advised not to wear white clothing on this day as it is considered unlucky. Also, they should refrain from consuming any food or drinks throughout the day while keeping their spirits high.
Kajari Teej celebrations take place with great enthusiasm in several states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan. The ways in which women observe this festival highlight the bond of love and devotion towards their husbands.
